Art
I fell in love with art in college, oddly enough, AFTER I chose to be an art major. I love the way a great piece can make a room, lift your soul, stop you in the street, or remind you how lucky you are to be alive in this moment at this time.
I love the way the paint feels as it moves across a canvas, the smell of a printing press, and the pop of a kneaded eraser when you clean it. I love street art, abstract art, sculpture, mosaic, architecture…I love to see the result of people doing what they were born to do. We need more of that in our world.
Travel
I remember being the last of my friends still involved with Girl Scouts, and honestly I had outgrown it, but I stumbled upon a traveling troop so I stuck with it. I must have been 10 or 11, and more than anything I wanted to be part of this troop because they were spending 10 days camping up and down the east coast, and the following year were backpacking through France. It’s funny how as kids we just do what we love. We don’t question it, don’t second guess if it’s preventing us from getting laundry done, or if it’s acceptable to our friends or society. We just do. This is how I feel when I travel. I feel like I’m living my most authentic life, I feel alive.
The best thing I ever ate
I typed this heading, then wondered if I could answer it. How would you answer it?
Today - just before Thanksgiving, the best I ate recently was Maine Lobster Pot Pie from Bourbon Steakhouse in Nashville.
